Head of Supply Chain
Role description:
- Work closely with hardware teams to source and procure mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components for prototype and production hardware.
- Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers for machining, fabrication, electronics, and cable assemblies, focusing on quality, cost, and lead times.
- Work with engineering teams to translate bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and technical requirements into sourcing plans.
- Manage RFQs, supplier negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery schedules.
- Track supplier performance across cost, quality, and schedule metrics and address issues when they arise.
- Support rapid prototype builds by expediting critical components and coordinating with vendors.
- Identify supply chain risks such as long lead times or single-source suppliers and implement mitigation strategies.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while helping introduce new vendors and manufacturing capabilities to hardware teams.
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or sourcing for hardware products.
- Experience sourcing machined components and electromechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation such as drawings and bills of materials.
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
- Experience working with engineering teams in hardware development environments.
- U.S. work authorization and ability to obtain a security clearance.
