Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Child Care Director, the Head Teacher will be responsible for the development and implementation of the daily activities and routines for a single classroom based on the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale and PA Early Learning Standards.

Essential Functions:

• Plans, codes, and implements developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant classroom activities based on the PA Early Learning Standards. This includes developing monthly calendars, and weekly lesson plans.
• Meets the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
• Completes bi-annual assessment of child’s development and reports progress through parent-teacher conferences in September and March.
• Completes age appropriate evaluations monthly.
• Completes at least one anecdotal record per child weekly.
• Coordinates the responsibilities of assistant teacher and child care aides.
• Assists the director with designated activities, administrative and/or supervisory duties.
• Supervises a small group of children as assigned and maintains the general safety and health of the children according to established standards.
• Must know the childcare handbook.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
