About Hometree
Join Hometree at the most exciting moment in our story. Founded in 2015, we've become one of the fastest-growing challengers in the UK home services market, spanning home cover that protects the essential systems in the home, renewable installations like solar, batteries and heat pumps, and the financing that makes them affordable. Together, we help homeowners look after their homes and move to greener, lower-carbon living.
We're now going through the biggest step change in our history. By acquiring OVO Energy's Home Services division, including the trusted CORGI HomePlan and HomeHeat brands, we're becoming one of the UK's leading home services groups, with fresh investment to fuel our next phase of growth. It's a genuine inflection point, and we're looking for people who want to help us build what comes next.
Key Achievements
🏆 UK's third-largest home cover provider: our latest acquisition makes us the third-largest provider of home cover in the UK.
🏆 7 Acquisitions - We've expanded our operations by acquiring 6 key companies across financing (Hometree Finance - formerly Bewarm), Home Cover (Your Repair) and energy services (Geowarmth, The Little Green Energy Company, IMS and GreenGen). And we have most recently announced the acquisition of OVO Home Services and CORGI Homeplan (subject to FCA approval).
🏆 500k Homes Covered - We cover over 500 hundred thousand homes across the UK
🏆 550+ Employees - We have over 550 passionate employees transforming the industry across the Group, one home at a time
The Role
You'll be the person responsible for health and safety across every business that installs for Hometree: heat pumps, solar, batteries and boilers, in homes all over the UK.
You'll set the standards, get out on site to see whether they're embedded, and put things right where they aren't. It's a broad brief with real autonomy, reporting straight into the Director of Operations, Installs and advising senior management through our Health and Safety Committee.
We're open on background. This is a step up for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor or Officer ready for their first manager role, and it's equally a good fit for an established Health and Safety Manager who wants the autonomy to shape a function rather than inherit one. Either way you'll have specialist technical support from our retained health and safety advisory provider behind you, and we're happy to invest in your growth and development as the role grows.
Responsibilities:
Build and embed the installer health and safety framework: policies, manuals, safe systems of work and emergency response plans, aligned to UK legislation, CDM 2015 and MCS scheme requirements, and built to support a Just Culture across the division
Lead the relationship with our external health and safety advisory provider, drawing on their specialist expertise where you need it and making sure we get real value from it
Run the risk assessment programme across both field activity (working at height, electrical isolation, refrigerant handling, manual handling, lone and remote working, driver safety) and premises (storage facilities, warehouses and installer offices, including fire risk assessment and racking inspection)
Set, communicate and audit the health and safety standards our contractors and subcontractors work to, and verify competence at onboarding and in use
Coordinate investigations into accidents, near misses and safety incidents: establish root cause, ensure RIDDOR compliance, produce toolbox talks and track corrective actions through to closure
Spend time on site building relationships, coaching teams, constructively challenging unsafe behaviour and leading by example
Design and deliver training for employees, contractors and subcontractors, and ensure sufficient trained resource across every installer business covering first aiders, fire wardens and local health and safety officers
Run the audit and inspection programme, monitor compliance and maintain accurate documentation
Report performance, incidents, trends and recommendations to senior management and the Health and Safety Committee, and advise on strategy, priorities and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for:
NEBOSH National General Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent, with Tech IOSH membership or eligibility on appointment
Experience coordinating health and safety across dispersed field teams and multiple sites, rather than a single fixed location
Demonstrable experience authoring risk assessments for both field activity and premises, including storage facilities and offices
Working knowledge of CDM 2015, or the appetite to get up to speed quickly on how duties apply where the client is a domestic householder
Experience setting or auditing health and safety standards for subcontractors
Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, with the credibility to influence senior leaders and engineers alike, and the confidence to lead without direct authority
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret incident and leading-indicator data, spot trends and turn them into action
Full UK driving licence
Extra Credit:
NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6), or working towards it
Grad IOSH or CMIOSH
NEBOSH Construction Certificate, SMSTS or SSSTS
Fire risk assessor qualification (NEBOSH Fire Certificate or IFE Level 3)
Experience in domestic renewables (air source heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage) or domestic heating
ISO 45001 internal auditor, or experience of an accredited management system
Experience bringing acquired businesses onto a single group health and safety standard

Followed by a stakeholder interview with the Director of Sales Operations, Installs and an Installer Managing Director
Final Interview: For certain positions there may be a final interview with a member of senior management or our senior leadership team (30mins)
