As a
result of organic growth and expansion, they are actively seeking an
experienced Workplace Health and Safety professional to join their growing team
on a permanent full time basis.
The
Position…
Based in
Yeerongpilly QLD, and reporting to the General Manager, you will work
closely with senior management to meet and exceed the health, safety objectives
and drive the ongoing implementation and improvement of the company's safety
culture.
The key
responsibilities will include:
- Regular
inspection of the facility operations to ensure that safe job
practices are followed, protective equipment is properly used,
machine/process guards are in place, etc.
- Investigate or facilitate the investigation of all accidents and near miss occurrences,
identification of trends and causes.
- Ensure
that corrective measures are implemented following an incident
investigation.
- Ensure
safety policies, processes and systems are updated in line with
legislation to support the ongoing monitoring and reporting of safety
performance.
- Participate
in the Safety induction and training of all employees.
- Instructing
all new employees on job appropriate safety practices and maintaining
employee personnel training records.
- Developing
safety recognition programs and incentives as appropriate.
- Chair the
plant safety committee and maintain HSEQ reports along with other required
documents.
- Ensure
the facility maintains the proper training in First Aid and CPR.
- Manage
inventory of safety related products including PPE, medical & first-
aid supplies, videos, etc.
- Coordinate
inspections, tours, and visits by other safety and health regulatory
agencies.
- Manage
all injury related claims and return to work activities.
- Maintain
appropriate communication with immediate management, corporate, and third
party vendors.
- Performs
other duties as required.
The
Ideal Candidate…
To be considered for this role, you
will possess the following:
- Experience
in a similar role.
- Relevant
qualifications in Work/Occupational Health and Safety.
- Sound
knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation.
- Demonstrate
and Develop a working knowledge of OHS/WHS Act and Regulations and Codes
of Practice and Company safety policies and regulations.
- Must be
or become qualified in First Aid and CPR.
- Return to
Work Coordinator experience.
- An
ability to work with other team members and to build positive team-based
relationships.
- Effective
communication and interpersonal skills.
- High
attention to detail and an ability to work unsupervised.
