Job description

Take the necessary measures to protect the hotel and defend it against fires and natural disasters and train the employees in this area.
Consult and inform the chief engineer for all issues deemed necessary.
Ensure that all employees in the hotel take the measures required for occupational and worker health and that they are well trained.
Carry out all other duties assigned by managers and hotel management not specified in the job description.
Must take all measures required for occupational and worker health and comply with all measures taken.
Lead the emergency response teams and the fire extinguishing team.
Conduct daily audits at hazardous waste sites or industrial sites, and participate in hazardous waste site investigations.
Conduct safety training and education programs for existing staff and newcomers, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.
Develop and maintain hygiene programs within Rixos procedures, international standards, and laws.
Inspect and evaluate weekly workplace environments, equipment, and practices in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Inspect daily specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
Investigate health-related complaints, and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
Maintain inventories of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure that materials are handled properly.
Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health and safety.
Prepare hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste samples for transportation and storage by treating, compacting, packaging, and labelling them.
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Assist the Human Resources Department in dealing with governmental issues of certificates or any other needed licensing.
Carry out all responsibilities related to the quality management and food safety management systems implemented at the facility.
Predict that all activities and purchased equipment and belongings may create disease for the environment, join all activities organized to protect biological diversity, share responsibilities, increase environmental knowledge, and carry out necessary trainings.
Provide minimum consumption of currently used materials and equipment (paper, printed out, etc.).
Implement necessary warnings and departmental trainings to save energy inside the facility.
Carry on implementing decisions taken for saving energy.
Predict effects of environment and efficiency of energy on purchased equipment.
Implement responsibilities to eliminate and collect waste properly, reduce environmental pollution and harmful effects to the environment, and lead staff.
Ensure safe carrying, storing, and use of chemicals in accordance with laws, controlling and reducing chemical contamination.
Carry out all responsibilities related to the quality management systems implemented at the facilities.
Carry out all other duties assigned by managers and hotel management not specified in the job description.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Foreign language: Intermediate level English.
  • Courses and training: Requires sufficient theoretical and practical background and attendance in courses and seminars in the related field.
  • Must meet the training requirements for general safety as per the domestic work laws.
  • Computer literacy: MS Office applications.
  • Skills: Requires good command and monitoring of safety developments and practices. Expected to offer consulting to other employees when needed. Expected to acquire through technical training the expertise and long-term experience concerning methods, advanced techniques, special equipment, and work processes in the related field.
