Health System Specialist

The Health System Specialist is located at a VA Medical Center in the Research and Development Service. The position is responsible for managing regulatory committees and providing subject matter expertise about research compliance regulations. The position provides analytical and procedure support of projects in a research setting. The position also makes recommendations to update established practices and procedures.

This is a Bargaining unit position. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Major Duties: Maintains customized and networked computerized databases to allow for timely tracking of research projects. Conducts analysis involving high risk/high visibility issues that directly impact the reputation of the organization's research program. Interprets, analyzes, and uses discretion when developing and implementing a wide range of research policies. Performs full reviews of local investigators' studies as part of the institutional quality assurance procedures. Analyzes and evaluates each research project to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, and other applicable regulatory and procedural requirements.
