Health System Specialist

This position is located within the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Office of the Atlanta Veterans Health Care System (AVAHCS). Its primary function is to serve as the Policy Manager on the QPS Administrative Team, reporting to the QPS Supervisory Management Program Analyst. The role provides leadership and professional support for the Policy program and oversees the management of risks associated with outdated VA/VHA Directives and other medical center policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Administering, analyzing, and performing work related to creating, distributing, and managing policy. Sharing National and VISN level directives and policies with Service Lines to support policy development. Providing education to Service Chiefs and supervisors to help them meet all directive requirements and complete VHA and National Security and Public Safety(NSPS) policy reviews. Protecting Government information while promoting accountability and transparency. Assisting in the development and review of policies, processes, instructions, and procedures. Creating, tracking, and analyzing service profiles essential to administrative operations. Supporting the writing, development, and submission of implementation plans and policy documents. Managing the policy program in alignment with VA and VHA policy, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) standards, and other applicable federal laws and regulations. Work Schedule: 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. (Subject to change based on agency need.) Telework: This position may be authorized for Ad-hoc telework.
