Spire Harpenden Hospital is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Healthcare Assistant to join our busy and welcoming Outpatients Department on a full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work within a fast-paced clinical environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care and contributing to the smooth running of outpatient clinics.

Duties and responsibilities:

Working under the supervision of qualified nursing staff, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality care and support to patients attending outpatient clinics.
  • Assist nurses and clinicians with a range of clinical and non-clinical duties.
  • Undertake phlebotomy procedures confidently and safely.
  • Ensure patients receive a positive experience throughout their care journey.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable clinical environment.
  • Support the efficient flow of outpatient clinics and patient appointments.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, health and safety, and clinical governance standards at all times.

Who we're looking for:

  • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a hospital setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable).
  • Previous experience within an outpatient or surgical environment (desirable).
  • A recognised Phlebotomy qualification and proven competence in taking blood samples (essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and follow instructions accurately.
  • Flexibility to work shifts across our operating hours.

Contract: 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility to be able to work any shifts rota's Monday - Saturday

Department is open from 7:30am - 9pm (Shorter opening hours on Fridays 6:30pm & Saturdays 2pm)
