Summary

Designs and optimizes heat exchangers and cooling systems for HVAC products using thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and simulation tools like ANSYS Fluent.

About the role

A Heat Transfer Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing heat exchanger and components where heat transfer is a critical factor. This role involves applying principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer to ensure efficient thermal performance in Carrier products and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

As a heat transfer engineer, she or he will be responsible for:

1. Thermal System Design & Analysis

Design and evaluate heat exchangers, cooling systems, insulation, and thermal interfaces.

Perform detailed thermal calculations using conduction, convection, and radiation principles.

Develop simulation models (e.g., CFD) to predict temperature distribution and heat flow.

2. Simulation & Modeling

Use engineering software such as ANSYS Fluent, IPM or MATLAB to conduct thermal simulations.

Validate models with testing and refine designs accordingly.

3. Testing & Validation

Plan and execute thermal experiments and bench tests.

Analyze temperature data, heat flux, and performance trends.

Troubleshoot thermal issues in prototypes or existing systems.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with system engineering teams to integrate thermal solutions into products.

Provide thermal expertise during design reviews and engineering decision-making.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, specifications, and test procedures.

Communicate analysis outcomes clearly to engineering and management stakeholders.

Requirements

People who are heat transfer engineer level have a minimum must have:

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

>3 years work experience in this area

Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

Experience with thermal analysis tools (ANSYS Fluent etc.)

Proficiency with CAD tools is a plus.

Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving skills.
