Heavy Haul Driver

The Class A Heavy Haul Driver will be responsible for transporting goods from one place to another using heavy or tractor-trailer trucks. Currently this position reports to an M5 location in South San Antonio and will occasionally report to our Corporate Office as needed.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Deliver goods via a heavy truck, sometimes over intercity routes.
  • Load and unload cargo.
  • Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
  • Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Report all accidents, near misses and other hazards.
  • Planning routes efficiently and delivering freight on time.
  • Complying with deferral and state trucking rules and regulations, including mandatory rest periods and weight restrictions.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Applicable commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others under pressure.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 3 years of heavy haul and/or haul dump experience.

  • A clean driving record, as well as sound knowledge of truck maintenance.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws that regulate the road freight transport industry.


Physical Requirements:


  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
