This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul, and repair of various types of cranes, trucks, gas-and diesel-powered tractors, draglines, compressors, and marine engines.
Accomplish all repairs that can be made in the field and providing direction to equipment operators or others acting as helpers.
Regularly, repair and modify the most complex vehicles and equipment, involving many complicated and varied systems.
Use a variety of electronic test equipment to trouble shoot special problems.
Perform mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a variety of launches and towboats.
Operate a diesel tandem tractor with 13-speed transmission and various trailers in the absence of the primary operator.
Performs repair of gasoline and diesel equipment in the field.
