HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Summary
Repairs and maintains heavy construction equipment, vehicles, and mechanical systems for a government agency.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Incumbent will provide repair, maintenance, and servicing of engineering, floating plant, heavy equipment, automotive equipment, reservoirs and lock and dams, field sites and service base as well as other miscellaneous mechanical equipment.
Performs mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a variety of gasoline-and diesel-powered heavy construction equipment such as cranes, wheel-and crawler-type tractors, drilling machines, compressors, and stationary engines.
Completes both minor and major repairs in accordance with approved work orders, diagnosing trouble to the extent necessary to satisfactorily complete repairs.
Installs new engines. Overhauls and repairs engines and completes assemblies such as transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, clutches, track links, fuel injection pump housings, and cylinder blocks.
Repairs and adjusts brakes, ignition, and fuel systems.
Performs mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a variety of launches and towboats.
Performs mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of various makes, types, and sizes of passenger cars and trucks.
Performs various tasks incident to cleaning tools, storing them in proper places, and in the general maintenance of good housekeeping conditions in the shop area.
