HF145-Shift Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 15 Non-Exempt Mill Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Purpose:
A person who is experienced in the process of papermaking. The person will be able to direct mill technicians and oversee the performance of the production process.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Mill Technicians serving as a coach in meeting goals for safety, production, quality, and on-grade up-time.
- Responsible for new employee orientation & training, housekeeping, daily “toolbox talks”, AND employee performance management.
- Works with employees and sub-contractor maintenance personnel to perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for paper breaks and mechanical failures.
- Assesses individual training needs and plans training.
- Sets employee performance expectations and evaluates performance. Works with the employee to correct any performance deficiencies.
- Works with Paper Machine Superintendent to plan and execute mill maintenance shutdowns.
- Maintains equipment through assuring “basic care rounds” are completed and operator maintenance is performed as required.
- Assists employees in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous improvements plans.
- Champions employees to continually look for ways of improving processes and communicates needs with managers.
- Explains and consistently enforces policies and procedures.
- Works with employees to resolve issues or complaints; communicates employee concerns with the Paper Machine Superintendent and Human Resources Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
