The Impact You'll Make:
- Serve as Project Manager for highway and roadway design-build projects, from pursuit through final delivery
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate closely with construction partners in a design-build environment
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality in accordance with Lochner’s project management procedures
- Act as the primary point of contact with NCDOT, FHWA, contractors, and subconsultants
- Ensure compliance with NCDOT standards, manuals, DB contracts, DB guidelines, and federal regulations
- Oversee design development, technical reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts
- Support design-build pursuits, including technical approach development, staffing plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies
- Mentor and develop engineering staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Promote Lochner’s culture of safety, quality, and integrity on all projects
The Expertise You'll Bring:
- Active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
- 10+ years of transportation engineering experience
- Demonstrated project management experience on highway design-build projects
- Strong working knowledge of NCDOT policies, procedures, and design criteria
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with contractors in alternative delivery environments
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-relationship skills
- Willingness to travel within North Carolina as project needs require
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on NCDOT design-build projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Experience supporting or leading design-build pursuits and proposals
- Familiarity with alternative delivery methods (CM/GC, P3)
- PMP certification
- Experience on large-scale roadway, interchange, or corridor projects
