Highway Engineer/Project Manager
Summary
A senior civil engineer/project manager leading FDOT highway and bridge transportation projects in Florida: performing roadway design in MicroStation/Bentley OpenRoads, managing multidisciplinary teams, budgets, proposals, and client relationships, and mentoring junior engineers.
The Miami, FL and Orlando, FL Offices of Modjeski and Masters (M&M) are looking for a full-time Senior Highway Engineer, with at least 10 years’ experience in FDOT highway projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Registered PE in the State of Florida
- Minimum of 10 years of FDOT Experience and Highway specific projects experience
- A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Highway/Transportation Design from an ABET accredited college or university
- Experience in pursuing and managing multi-discipline projects, including projects with bridge replacement, new bridge alignment, or bridge rehabilitation.
- Client Relationships with FDOT District One, District Four, Districts Five, District Six, District Seven, and CFX.
- A strong work ethic with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Proficient in MicroStation and Bentley Open Road Designer.
- Familiarity with AASHTO and Florida Design Manual.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a professional sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client needs.
- Detail oriented with good oral and written communications skills and a fluency in English.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical and leadership guidance for transportation engineers.
- Maintain strong client relationships,
- Pursue and win projects with FDOT and local agency clients.
- Prepare proposals and attend marketing presentations.
- Manage multiple projects and project teams within budget and schedule.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform roadway design tasks, and plan preparation utilizing Open Road Designer, from conception phase to final deliverable phase, including specs package and cost estimate and post-design services.
