Highway Structural Engineer – Bridge Design

Summary

Designs and analyzes bridges (RCC, PSC, box girder, flyovers) using MIDAS Civil, CSI Bridge, and AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with IRC/AASHTO codes.

  • Perform structural analysis and detailed design of Major, Minor, and Important Bridges, including:
  • RCC and PSC girder bridges
  • Box girder bridges (cast-in-situ and segmental)
  • Slab, T-beam, and prestressed bridges
  • Flyovers, viaducts, and ROB/RUB structures
  • Design bridge components such as:
  • Superstructure (deck slabs, girders, bearings, expansion joints)
  • Substructure (piers, abutments, pile caps, well foundations, open foundations)
  • Prepare design calculations, design basis reports (DBR), drawings, and BOQs
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (IRC, AASHTO, Eurocodes, or project-specific guidelines)
  • Carry out load rating, seismic analysis, wind analysis, and fatigue checks
  • Coordinate with geotechnical, highway, hydrology, and construction teams
  • Review and approve shop drawings, construction methodologies, and material submittals
  • Provide technical support during construction, including design clarifications and site inspections
  • Participate in value engineering, constructability reviews, and design optimization
  • Assist in preparation of tender documents and technical proposals


Requirements

  • Strong expertise in RCC and PSC bridge design
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and bridge design software such as:
  • MIDAS Civil, CSI Bridge, SAP2000, STAAD Pro
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD / Revit / BIM tools
  • Familiarity with seismic design, hydrological forces, and construction staging analysis
