Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Certified Histology Technician, you will perform routine testing within the histology laboratory, applying your certified technical knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Every day you will execute laboratory procedures, consistently demonstrate a self-directed approach to your work, and utilize complex problem-solving skills to ensure accurate and reliable results within the histology department. To be successful in this role, you will possess current certification as a Histology Technician, strong technical skills in histology, a deep understanding of laboratory testing principles, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure accurate and clinically relevant outcomes.
- Performs testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols.
- Generates materials which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses which influence patient care and management.
- Follows laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agency policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of instruments/equipment and appropriate documentation of activities.
- Completes required QC and maintenance, consistently recognizing variances and documenting appropriate corrective action.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises independent judgment to correlate and interpret data.
We are offering a $10,000 Sign on Bonus in addition up to $8,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements
Job Requirements
Required
- Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program OR HS and 60 college/university semester hours, with a combination of 12 hours biology and chemistry (must include both) AND one (1) year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five (5) years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining OR Associate Degree with a combination of 12 hours biology and chemistry (must include both) AND one (1) year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five (5) years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining OR Will consider candidates with High School diploma and two (2) or more years of experience in all areas of routine histology in lieu of academic credit/degree and/or certification
- Detail oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize duties
Preferred
- Associate's Degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician program, AND/OR Histotechnician certification, HT, by American Society of Clinical Pathology
