Historian System and Software Engineer

Summary

The Historian System and Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain industrial OT/IT software applications, focusing on GE Proficy Historian and SCADA systems. The role involves managing the full software development lifecycle, ensuring system availability, and collaborating with global stakeholders to optimize operational data.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Scale Applications: Lead end-to-end (front-end and back-end) design, development, and maintenance of resource-optimized OT/IT applications for production operations and reporting.
  • SDLC & DevOps: Oversee the software development lifecycle using CI/CD tools and industry best practices for version control, testing, documentation, and release management.
  • System Troubleshooting: Proactively identify application bottlenecks, software bugs, and complex network/protocol issues to drive performance improvements.
  • High Availability & Support: Ensure 24/7 normal operability, application responsiveness, and high system availability as part of a global support team.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional global business stakeholders to translate operational needs into high-impact technical solutions.


What We Are Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting developing industrial software solutions and tools.


Core Technical Skills

  • SCADA & Protocols: Hands-on experience with SCADA/Control Systems (e.g., iFIX, Siemens PCS7, Wonderware) and industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, OPC AE) for time-series and Alarm & Event (A&E) data extractions.
  • GE Suite (Must Have): Prior experience working with GE Proficy Historian, GE Plant Applications, and GE iFIX Client development.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in modern languages and frameworks including .NET C#, JavaScript, and T-SQL. (VB/VBA mastery is a bonus!)
  • Databases & Tools: Experience with SQL Server, InfluxDB, RabbitMQ, and Grafana.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud: Strong understanding of OT/IT infrastructure, Citrix workspace environments, networking, security, and Azure infrastructure deployment.
