Histotechnician - Temporary 7 month Assignment

About the Role

We are seeking a Dermatology Lab Technician - Histology to support the accurate preparation and processing of surgical specimens in a structured laboratory environment. This is a temporary, full-time position expected to last 7 months. This role is well suited for someone who values consistency, follows established procedures closely, and takes pride in producing high-quality work across routine and non-routine histology activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation and histologic processing of surgical specimens according to established policies and procedures

  • Ensure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling to support accurate identification and tracking

  • Perform core histology functions including embedding, microtomy, and special stains

  • Support additional laboratory functions such as routine staining, coverslipping, control slide preparation, and assigned maintenance tasks

  • Maintain safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards throughout all laboratory processes

  • Ensure compliance with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations

  • Complete other duties as assigned by a supervisor

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work carefully within established laboratory procedures and quality standards

  • Strong focus on accuracy in specimen handling, documentation, and processing

  • Comfort performing detailed, repetitive work with sustained concentration

  • Ability to follow structured workflows and maintain consistency across tasks

  • Clear written documentation skills and ability to work effectively under supervision

  • Familiarity with histology techniques and laboratory safety practices

Other Requirements

  • Temporary, full-time position for an expected 7-month assignment

  • Experience in histologic specimen preparation and basic histology functions such as embedding, microtomy, and special stains

  • Ability to perform grossing activities appropriate to training, education, and supervision level

  • Knowledge of applicable laboratory compliance requirements, including CLIA and CAP standards
