Histotechnologist

Open 60d

About Nudge

At Nudge, our mission is to develop the best technology for interfacing with the brain to improve people's lives. We're starting with an approach that we believe can help the most people the fastest, and also allow us to learn as much about the brain as possible: developing a non-invasive, ultrasound-based device that can stimulate and image the brain at high resolution and depth. This is a vertically integrated effort building cutting-edge hardware, software, and research capabilities to create products that can benefit millions — and eventually billions — of people.

To succeed, we need to assemble world-class teams across everything we do. We hire people who are exceptional at their craft, believe hard things are worth doing, and execute relentlessly — people who expect the highest levels of both rigor and integrity from each other.

About the role

We’re looking for a Histotechnologist to own and execute histology workflows at Nudge, focused primarily on mouse and rat brain tissue. You’ll be responsible for building the full histology pipeline: perfusion, prosection, embedding, sectioning, staining, and imaging — across both traditional and cutting-edge techniques, to understand the mechanisms of ultrasonic neuromodulation.

As a histotechnologist at Nudge, you will:

  • Perform routine and advanced histological processing of rodent brain tissue, including perfusion, prosection, fixation, embedding (paraffin and OCT), and sectioning via microtome, cryostat, and vibratome

  • Execute standard histological stains (H&E, special stains) and immunohistochemistry using both manual and automated staining platforms

  • Operate and optimize tissue clearing platforms (electrophoretic, solvent-based) for whole-brain and thick-section imaging

  • Prepare cleared tissue for light sheet fluorescence microscopy and volumetric 3D imaging

  • Operate and maintain automated sectioning and tissue processing systems

  • Prepare and process samples for spatial omics platforms, including multiplexed protein imaging and spatial transcriptomics, with both RNA- and protein-based tagging approaches

  • Develop, optimize, and document SOPs for histological workflows, ensuring reproducibility and quality

  • Collaborate with research scientists to adapt tissue processing and staining strategies to specific experimental questions

About you

We are looking for histotechnologists with at least 3 years of industry experience. Regardless of career level, you should have:

  • Hands-on experience in histotechnology, with significant time spent processing rodent brain tissue

  • Proficiency across core histological techniques: microtomy (paraffin, cryo, vibratome), tissue embedding, H&E staining, and immunohistochemistry

  • Experience with at least one tissue clearing method and associated imaging modalities (light sheet microscopy)

  • Familiarity with automated staining and sectioning platforms

  • HT(ASCP) certification or equivalent training; Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, or a related field preferred

  • High integrity and strong professional judgment
