Hospice Physician/Nurse Practitioner (Contract)

The Hospice Physician/Nurse Practitioner provides medical oversight and clinical support to Hospice of Humboldt, with primary responsibility for after-hour and weekend call coverage. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary hospice team, the Hospice Physician/NP assists in managing symptom control, addressing urgent clinical concerns, providing guidance to nursing staff, and supporting high-quality end-of-life care for hospice patients.

This position serves as a key clinical resource during non-business hours, helping ensure timely medical decision-making, patient comfort, and continuity of care. The Hospice Physician/NP participates in telephone consultation, medication management, certification and recertification activities as needed, and may provide occasional in-person evaluations when clinically appropriate.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate physician with experience in hospice, palliative care, family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, or a related field and a commitment to patient-centered end-of-life care.
