General Description
The Program Operations Manager of the Hospital Medicine service at OU Health plays a crucial role in the management and coordination of the Hospital Medicine section, a team of hospitalist physicians and advanced practice providers of whom the physicians are both employees of the health system and hold faculty appointments within the College of Medicine. This dynamic and unique position requires a manager with a deep understanding of healthcare administration, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster collaboration between clinical and academic functions.

Group Management:
- Lead and manage the Hospital Medicine Group's day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient delivery of patient care services and education responsibilities.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of hospitalist physicians and advanced practice providers, in collaboration with the Chief of Hospital Medicine.
- Coordinate and schedule clinical rotations for hospitalist physicians to optimize staffing and workload balance, in collaboration with the Chief of Hospital Medicine.
Collaboration with Faculty Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between the OU Health Physicians faculty practice and the Department of Medicine to ensure the alignment of clinical and academic responsibilities.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between hospitalist physicians, academic faculty, and clinical staff to foster a positive working environment.
Performance Improvement:
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in patient care, research, and education within the group.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance clinical and business outcomes.
Financial Management:
- Assist in budget preparation and financial management of the Hospital Medicine Group, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation.
- Monitor billing and coding processes, including compliance with relevant regulations.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Stay informed about relevant healthcare regulations and standards, ensuring that the Hospital Medicine Section complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with various departments, including nursing, pharmacy, and ancillary services, to ensure seamless patient care and efficient hospital operations.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of healthcare management experience, with a strong preference for experience in an academic health system or hospitalist program. Master’s degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
- Knowledge of healthcare operations, provider credentialing, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, research, and education.
- Familiarity with academic medicine and the nuances of managing physician-faculty.
