Internship Overview
This internship is a structured experiential learning opportunity aligned with SUNY Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) requirements. It combines supervised experience in culinary preparation, sanitation, and early childhood support services with defined learning outcomes to promote student development and career readiness.
Time Commitment & Hour Requirements
Weekly Hours: 10–15 hours per week
Total Hours: 150–180 hours per semester (aligned with SUNY EOP requirements)
Schedule generally within 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM; coordinated with academic schedule
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks following safety and nutrition guidelines
Ensure awareness of allergies, dietary restrictions, and portion requirements
Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and service areas
Support supervision and engagement of children in accordance with NYS OCFS and NAEYC guidelines
Assist staff in supporting the early childhood learning environment
Specific Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver meals to classrooms safely and efficiently
Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen and service areas
Follow all center policies and licensing regulations
Assist with children's daily routines and personal care needs as needed
Collaborate with Child Care Center staff and administration
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Participate in professional development and training opportunities
Follow schedules, assist with recordkeeping, and complete assigned duties
