Host / Hostess- TCLC
The Restaurant Host/Hostess is responsible for managing the first and last impression of the restaurant, setting the tone for the guest experience across all meal periods. This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and professionalism, with an elevated, hospitality-driven approach during dinner service.
Hosts must balance guest engagement with operational control, managing reservations, walk-ins, and table flow to support both service efficiency and guest satisfaction. Flexibility is essential, with scheduling based on business levels, weekends, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & First Impressions
- Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
- Manage the entry experience with confidence, warmth, and efficiency
- Provide accurate wait times and maintain clear communication with guests
- Create a welcoming and organized environment at the host stand
Reservations & Seating Management
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, and seating flow using the reservation system
- Optimize table turns while maintaining service standards and guest comfort
- Balance server sections and ensure equitable distribution of covers
- Adjust seating strategy based on volume, pacing, and operational needs
Operational Awareness
- Maintain full awareness of restaurant layout, table status, and service flow
- Communicate continuously with managers, servers, and kitchen regarding pacing
- Support transitions between meal periods, including higher-volume breakfast/lunch and more structured dinner service
- Assist in controlling door flow during peak and event-driven periods
Guest Communication & Problem Solving
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with professionalism and urgency
- Provide accurate information regarding menus, hours, and offerings
- Support service recovery efforts by escalating issues appropriately
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with servers, bartenders, and leadership to ensure smooth operations
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the entrance and surrounding areas
- Support overall team success with a positive and proactive attitude
Work Environment
- Elevated casual dinner service requiring strong control of reservations and pacing
- Fast-paced environment with frequent guest interaction
- Schedule variability based on business levels and events
- Multi-venue operation including Tequila bar, Two Mules Cantina bar, El Patio bar, and pool bar
- Ranges from casual upscale, intimate settings to high-energy, high-volume environments
- Indoor and outdoor service environments, including exposure to weather conditions at pool and rooftop venues
