The Boathouse at City Point sits right on the water where the Appomattox and James Rivers meet. Guests come for the views, fresh seafood, and great hospitality - and the host team sets the tone for that experience the moment they walk through the door.

We are looking for friendly, organized hosts who enjoy interacting with people and keeping a busy restaurant running smoothly.

You will:

Welcome guests into a vibrant waterfront restaurant
Help manage the flow of a busy dining room
Work alongside a supportive, team-driven staff
Build hospitality skills that can lead to server or leadership roles

Pay & Growth Opportunities

We offer a clear path for growth within the host team.

Host in Training
$13/hr
Training typically lasts about one week. Team members learn the host role and OpenTable system. Tip pool not included during training.

Host
$13 - $15/hr + 0.5% tip out (FBLW)
Hosts are certified in the role and participate in the host tip-out pool.

Lead Host
$16 - $18/hr + 0.5% tip out (FBLW)
Lead Hosts can run the host stand independently, manage floor flow, and help train new team members.

What You'll Do

Greet guests warmly as they arrive
Manage reservations and waitlists
Seat guests efficiently while maintaining proper table rotation
Provide accurate wait time estimates
Answer phones and assist with reservations and guest questions
Maintain a clean and organized host stand
Communicate with servers and managers to manage the flow of service
Assist with opening, closing, and sidework duties

What We're Looking For

Friendly, positive personality
Strong communication and organization skills
Ability to stay calm and focused during busy shifts
Team-oriented attitude
Comfortable interacting with guests and answering phones
Ability to stand for extended periods
Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays
