Lead the Engineering Team at DoubleTree by Hilton Montgomery

As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee the overall maintenance, engineering, and physical operation of the hotel. You will be responsible for ensuring the property, guest rooms, public spaces, meeting areas, equipment, and building systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and to high operational standards.

This is a leadership role requiring a strong combination of technical expertise, team leadership, preventative maintenance, project management, organization, and guest-service skills.

You will partner closely with the General Manager and hotel leadership team to manage Engineering operations, maintenance priorities, capital projects, vendor relationships, department budgets, and team development.

At a full-service hotel, Engineering plays a critical role in keeping every area of the property operating smoothly. From guest rooms and public spaces to meeting facilities, restaurant areas, equipment, and building systems, your leadership will directly support both guest satisfaction and hotel operations.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hotel Engineering and Maintenance department.
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop Engineering team members.
  • Establish and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance, safety, and capital improvement needs.
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety, building, and general maintenance systems.
  • Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders and repair requests.
  • Ensure guest and departmental maintenance requests are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance situations.
  • Manage Engineering schedules, staffing, assignments, and daily priorities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, inspections, and required documentation.
  • Manage Engineering supplies, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Obtain quotes and assist with evaluating repair and replacement needs.
  • Assist with annual budgets, capital expenditure planning, renovations, and property improvement projects.
  • Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Support hotel inspections and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards, safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
  • Partner with the General Manager and leadership team regarding property condition, maintenance priorities, renovations, and capital projects.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional Engineering department.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, preventative maintenance, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, Maintenance Manager, or similar hotel Engineering leadership role.
  • Strong hotel maintenance and engineering background, preferably within a full-service hotel.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life-safety, and general building systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-management experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and property inspections.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage projects, department budgets, and maintenance priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing maintenance, safety, and operational needs.
  • Proficiency with maintenance logs, work orders, inspections, and basic computer systems.
  • Hilton or branded hotel Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and emergency situations, as required.
