Lead the Engineering Team at Hampton Inn & Suites Jackson

As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee the overall maintenance, engineering, and physical operation of the hotel. You will be responsible for ensuring the property is safe, well-maintained, efficient, and compliant with Hilton brand standards and company expectations.

This position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership, organization, preventative maintenance, and guest-service skills.

You will partner closely with the General Manager and hotel leadership team to manage Engineering operations, maintenance priorities, capital projects, vendor relationships, budgets, and team development.

A reliable and well-maintained hotel is essential to guest satisfaction and operational success. As Chief Engineer, you will lead the team responsible for maintaining the property's physical assets and ensuring critical systems operate safely and efficiently.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hotel Engineering and Maintenance department.
  • Lead, train, coach, and develop Maintenance team members.
  • Establish and manage preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems.
  • Inspect the property regularly and identify maintenance, safety, and capital improvement needs.
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety, building, and general maintenance systems.
  • Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders and repair requests.
  • Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance situations.
  • Ensure guest and departmental maintenance requests are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Manage Engineering department schedules, staffing, assignments, and daily priorities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, inspections, and required documentation.
  • Manage Engineering supplies, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Obtain quotes and assist with evaluating repair and replacement needs.
  • Assist with annual budgets, capital expenditure planning, and property improvement projects.
  • Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Support hotel inspections and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards, company policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable local regulations.
  • Partner with the General Manager and leadership team on property condition, maintenance priorities, renovations, and capital projects.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional Engineering department.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, preventative maintenance, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Supervisor, or similar hotel Engineering leadership role preferred.
  • Strong hotel maintenance and engineering background.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life-safety, and general building systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-management experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and property inspections.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage vendors, contractors, projects, and department budgets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing maintenance, safety, and operational needs.
  • Proficiency with maintenance logs, work orders, inspections, and basic computer systems.
  • Hilton or branded hotel Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and emergency situations, as required.
