Hotel Kitchen - Casual Chef

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Casual Chef to join our hotel kitchen team, supporting the delivery of high-quality food across our restaurants, conference, and banqueting operations.
This role is essential in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen, particularly during peak periods, events, and staff shortages. You will work closely with senior chefs and the wider brigade to maintain consistent standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations

Prepare and produce high-quality dishes in line with kitchen standards and food specifications
Ensure all food preparation, cooking, and presentation meets consistent quality expectations across all outlets
Check mise en place (MEP) is completed and ready for service
Assist with stock rotation and minimise waste through effective preparation and organisation

Service & Team Support

Support the kitchen brigade during busy service periods, events, and staff absences
Work across multiple kitchen sections as required by senior chefs
Provide guidance and support to Commis Chefs and Kitchen Porters where appropriate
Maintain clear communication with Duty Managers and Restaurant Managers

Hygiene, Safety & Standards

Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety at all times
Ensure workstations are fully cleaned and reset at the end of each shift
Follow all food safety procedures and hotel operational standards

Communication & Guest Focus

Attend daily briefings and team meetings as required
Act on feedback and assist in resolving guest concerns where necessary
Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and quality delivery What We’re Looking For
Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
Ability to work across multiple kitchen sections
Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety, and quality standards
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and events
