Description

House Companion™ Support Worker

Care that feels like home. A team that feels like community.

Looking for meaningful work where you can build genuine relationships and help people feel at home? Join NewDirection Care Bellmere as a House Companion™ Support Worker.

NewDirection Care is a unique residential aged care community in Bellmere, around 45 minutes north of Brisbane CBD. Our 120 residents live in 17 domestic-style houses, with just seven residents in each. That means care happens in a smaller, more familiar setting, where everyday routines and personal choices matter.

We’re looking for part-time team members for morning, afternoon and night duty shifts.

About the role

As a House Companion™, you’ll support residents with the things that make up everyday life. This includes personal care, preparing meals, keeping the home comfortable and helping residents stay involved in the activities and choices that matter to them.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting residents with showering, dressing, toileting, shaving and other personal care
  • Preparing and cooking meals with residents, where they choose to be involved
  • Helping with household tasks such as cleaning and laundry
  • Assisting residents with transfers and mobility
  • Supporting appointments, family meetings and communication with Registered Nurses
  • Keeping the house diary and resident documentation accurate and up to date
  • Working alongside your house team to support residents’ independence, dignity and wellbeing

What you’ll bring

  • A warm, respectful approach and a genuine interest in supporting older people
  • Reliability and the ability to work well as part of a close-knit team
  • Good communication and the ability to adapt to changing needs
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills
  • A commitment to our values: Individuality, Community, Relationships, Respect and Empathy

A Certificate III in aged care is not essential. We welcome people who are new to the sector and ready to learn, as well as experienced care workers.

What we offer

  • Part-time shifts across morning, afternoon and night duty
  • A thorough induction and training program
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Pay above the award
  • A supportive team and a distinctive home-style work environment
  • Employee wellness and rewards program, including access to onsite physiotherapy and occupational therapy
  • Employee Assistance Program and counselling support

Requirements

  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Current influenza vaccination
  • 2x Covid vaccination shots and 1x Covid booster (3 in total)
