House Manager - Boarding

Knox Grammar School is an independent, multi-campus Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school for boys, located at Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore. In addition to the single-sex campuses, Knox also operates Wahroonga Preparatory School, a co-educational campus for students Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.

ABOUT THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen at Knox Grammar School for a House Manager -Boarding to join the team on a Permanent Part time basis. In this role you will be required to work all term time during the school year and as otherwise advised during non-term time.

The days and hours to be worked during term time are:

50 hours per fortnight,

Monday to Friday

06:30am to 08:30am

02:45pm to 05:00pm

This role works closely with the Head of Stage and Boarding Executive Officer within the Boarding House. The House Manager is concerned primarily with the daily care and wellbeing of the Boarders in their House.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Head of Stage in the smooth running of the Boarding House
  • Works closely with the Boarding Executive Officer
  • Get the boys up in the morning, accompany to breakfast and off to school by 8.00 am
  • Greet the boys on their return at 3.15 pm, get them off to sport, or supervise their free time as appropriate
  • Conduct daily room inspections
  • Liaison with Boarders, Parents and School as delegated, providing prompt and cheerful service.
  • Assists with preparations in the Boarding House prior to the commencement of Term One and in the week after the conclusion of Term Four.
  • General House administration – Collation and distribution of duty reports, collation of travel arrangements, liaison with support departments
  • Setting up for Boarding Functions in conjunction with the Boarding Executive Officer
  • Collect weekly newsletters, weekend lunch money and Boarders mail
  • Complete a duty report at the end of each morning and afternoon shift
  • Attend fortnightly Stage Meetings

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience, or demonstrated interest in boarding, or other residential, or educational environments
  • Ability to relate well to boys, staff and parents, with the requisite maturity to handle sensitive situations
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, initiative and resourcefulness
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Strong focus and ability to work within a team
  • Applications from candidates with either educational, nursing, or childcare experience and/or qualifications are encouraged.
