Houseparent Weekend

Important: This is an onsite residential position. Houseparents are required to sleep on campus during assigned shifts and may be required to assist sleep staff when needed. The position involves direct interaction with youth and responsibility for supervision, daily routines, meals, housekeeping, transportation, documentation, and responding to behavioral or crisis situations.

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and responsible Houseparent to provide care, supervision, structure, and support to youth living in our residential program.

As a Houseparent, you will help create a safe, stable, and welcoming homelike environment for youth while serving as a positive role model and mentor. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and understands the importance of consistency, patience, structure, and teamwork.

This is an onsite residential position. Houseparents are required to sleep on campus during their assigned shifts and assist sleep staff when needed.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct supervision, care, and support to youth in a residential setting.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Establish appropriate relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Provide consistent structure, expectations, and guidance in accordance with each child's individual treatment plan.
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and homelike residential environment.
  • Remain available and responsive to youth during assigned shifts.
  • Sleep on campus during assigned shifts as required by the position.
  • Assist sleep staff when necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional crises and provide crisis intervention.
  • Follow approved physical intervention/restraint procedures when necessary to prevent a child from harming themselves or others.
  • Plan or participate in group discussions, recreational activities, and other constructive activities.
  • Monitor and document youth activities, behaviors, incidents, and other required information.
  • Assist youth with personal hygiene and other daily living skills.
  • Monitor youth's general physical well-being and report concerns appropriately.
  • Dispense or provide items such as clothing, toiletries, linens, and other necessities as needed.
  • Monitor and document medication consumption in accordance with organizational policies and applicable requirements.
  • Purchase food, plan menus, and prepare meals.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and laundry to maintain a clean, comfortable living environment.
  • Report facility, grounds, maintenance, and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Transport youth to school, medical appointments, activities, and other destinations as required.
  • Participate in referral interviews and new intakes as needed.
  • Attend required staff meetings and treatment team meetings.
  • Complete all required onboarding and annual training.
  • Follow all SAYS policies, procedures, safety requirements, and treatment practices.
  • Assist with agency fundraising and other organizational activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
