Housing Assessment & Data Analyst

The Assessment & Data Analyst performs basic data analysis using various techniques and assists with maintaining databases and dashboards to support the department’s planning needs, goals, and objectives. This position leads projects and serves as a liaison to various internal units, teams, committees, and external vendors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with analysis and reporting for departmental surveys and assessment projects, including the Community Feedback Survey, ACUHO-I/Benchworks surveys, and other residential experience measures.
  • Prepares user friendly reports, charts, dashboards, summaries, and presentation materials for departmental leadership, residential communities, and operational teams.
  • Present data in accessible formats that help technical and non-technical audiences understand key findings and potential next steps.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of housing data across all university systems through regular audits, reconciliation, and quality assurance processes.
  • Collects and analyzes department data, such as call logs, surveys, and feedback, to drive continuous improvement and highlight unit workload/output for internal and external stakeholders to assist in strategic decision making.
  • Assist with basic reporting automation using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, StarRez, Salesforce, TMA, Qualtrics, Tableau, or similar tools when appropriate.
  • Facilitate ongoing assessment of student experience
  • Serve on division assessment committee
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research & Strategic Analytics to gather insights and data on university collected content that would help drive decision making in housing
  • Other duties as assigned

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Responsible for creation and management of the fall and spring closing spreadsheets
  • Serve as liaison for divisional and departmental marketing and communications teams to tell our story and increase social media presence while highlighting the department key initiatives
  • Curate department end of the year reports for each functional area: Budget/Finance, Assignments, Residential Life, Staff Recruitment & Development, and Facilities.

PLANNING & PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee the departmental initiatives surrounding use of AI including managing AI department dashboard contributions for the Division of Student Affairs
  • Create content for email correspondence and department website relating to assignments-related and student service areas
  • Collaborate with the supervisor on occupancy planning and modelling for each academic year based on the needs/requirements of the University.

DEPARTMENT ANALYTICS AND DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and process initiatives to improve student experience and operational efficiencies through focus groups, surveys, and other qualitative assessments
  • Understand industry best practices in housing and student affairs through benchmarking efforts and subscribing to industry literature, and professional organization content.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reduce manual work, and make reports easier to reproduce.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Develop and maintain historical and predictive reporting related to housing occupancy, applicant conversion, deposit yield, summer melt, and future residential demand
  • Census liaison providing data as needed for semesterly benchmark inquiries

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple university units.
  • Ability to work independently while seeking clarification when needed.
  • Ability to anticipate, investigate, and analyze problems and address them proactively.
  • Experience with the StarRez housing management software and its various modules preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce/Case Management programs preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, assessment or operational analytics is preferred
