Summary

Part-time monitor and security guard at a Salvation Army lodge/shelter in Bowling Green, KY. The person checks residents in and out overnight, monitors resident activity and facility safety, makes rounds, keeps logs and records, secures doors/windows, and checks fire equipment.

This position is responsible for:

Accepts and processes residents staying in lodge/shelter overnight; monitors the activities of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all rooms are in proper order before and after the arrival of residents; checks fire equipment and ensures good working order.
  • Opens and closes the lodge/shelter doors at designated hours of operation, as needed.
  • Monitors the activities of the lodge/shelter residents, ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; monitors and makes periodic rounds of the entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on assigned shift.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Physical effort is required for walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 Ibs.) 5-10% of work time.

Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
