Join U.S.VETS, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending and preventing veteran homelessness. As a Housing Specialist, you will connect homeless and at-risk veterans and their families with safe, stable housing and the supportive services needed to achieve long-term independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Housing Assessment and Placement: Conduct ongoing assessments of participants’ housing needs and help identify appropriate housing opportunities.
- Landlord and Property Partnerships: Develop and maintain professional relationships with landlords, property managers, community agencies, and property owners.
- Housing Recruitment: Recruit property owners willing to work with veterans and families who may face significant housing barriers.
- Housing Documentation: Obtain and maintain all required housing documentation, including rent reasonableness testing and supporting records.
- Participant Support: Assist participants with navigating the housing process, securing housing, and maintaining long-term housing stability.
- Temporary Financial Assistance: Support the distribution and documentation of eligible temporary financial assistance payments.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with SSVF case managers, Department of Veterans Affairs personnel, landlords, and community partners to support each participant’s overall well-being.
- Data Entry and Compliance: Complete accurate and timely documentation and data entry in the Homeless Management Information System and other required systems.
- Transportation: Transport participants to housing appointments and other necessary community resources.
- Confidentiality: Protect participant information and maintain confidentiality at all times
