HPC Data Center Technician
You maintain HPC data center infrastructure, plan and install new hardware, rack and cable servers and network equipment, troubleshoot hardware, configure network devices and Linux servers, maintain documentation and inventory, coordinate with colocation providers and vendors, manage contractors, handle equipment shipping and receiving, and perform capacity planning.
Responsibilities
- Maintain data center infrastructure
- Gather requirements and plan new hardware installations
- Install and configure data center infrastructure components
- Rack and cable servers, network equipment, and storage devices
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware
- Configure network devices and Linux servers
- Develop and maintain documentation
- Interface with colocation providers and hardware vendors
- Manage onsite contractors
- Ship and receive equipment
- Maintain serialized asset and consumable inventories
- Perform data center capacity planning
- Travel occasionally to other data centers and offices
Requirements
- At least three years of data center experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability to work on ladders and elevated platforms and lift up to 50 pounds
- Knowledge of cabling standards and media types
- Strong understanding of data center electrical, power, cooling, liquid cooling, mechanical, and safety systems
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Hardware repair experience
- Ability to understand basic network designs and topologies
- Experience configuring Cisco and Arista devices via CLI
- Linux command-line troubleshooting and scripting experience
- Programming experience such as Python preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills
