Reports to VP of Human Resources
POSITION SUMMARY: As part of the Human Resources team at Cherokee Regional Medical Center, this role supports a wide range of HR functions that strengthen our workforce, enhance employee experience, and promote a positive organizational culture. The HR Generalist/Manager serves as a key partner to department leaders by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR compliance, and workforce development. Depending on experience, the role may also lead initiatives, guide managers through HR processes, and contribute to strategic HR planning. This position requires a service-focused, employee-centered approach and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all HR interactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Recruitment support including posting positions, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and assisting managers.

Ensures accurate, timely, and thorough onboarding for all new hires.

Coordinates orientation, training schedules, and initial employee setup.
Employee Relations & Engagement

Serves as a point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, leaves, benefits, and workplace concerns.

Supports or leads employee engagement initiatives, recognition activities, and culture-building efforts.

Assists in resolving employee issues and conflicts; may lead investigations depending on experience level.
Compensation, Benefits & HRIS

Supports administration of compensation and benefit plans.

Conducts HRIS data entry, audits, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Assists with HRIS development, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Administers workers’ compensation processes and reporting.
Performance Management

Coordinates performance review cycles and ensures timely completion.

Assists managers with performance documentation and coaching processes.

Supports organizational training and development initiatives.
Compliance & Recordkeeping

Maintains employee files and records in electronic and paper formats.

Ensures compliance with HR, labor, payroll, and accreditation regulations.

Gathers and analyzes HR metrics such as time-to-hire, turnover, and engagement indicators.

Assists in developing, updating, and implementing HR policies.
Offboarding

Coordinates employee offboarding, including exit interviews, termination documentation, and system access removal.
Responsibilities may be adjusted based on the selected candidate’s experience. Candidates with advanced HR experience may assume additional leadership responsibilities, including leading investigations, advising managers on complex HR matters, and contributing to strategic HR initiatives.
Education:

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, communications, or similar field
License/Registration/Certification:

Preferred: HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.)
Experience:

Preferred: 2+ years of HR Generalist or Manager experience

Preferred: Previous payroll administration experience

Working knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws

Proficiency in MS Office; HRIS experience preferred
