HRD
Summary
Lead global HR strategy, people development, and senior stakeholder management for a fast-growing tech business with AI and fintech focus.
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Human Resources Director to lead our people strategy and organisation development across international markets.
This is not a traditional HR operations role. As most transactional HR processes—including recruitment administration, compensation and benefits administration, performance tracking and training coordination—are supported by digital systems and automation, the primary focus of this position is people leadership, organisation effectiveness, senior stakeholder management and business partnership.
The successful candidate must be able to operate confidently in a multicultural environment, understand both China and international business practices, and engage constructively and assertively with senior leaders from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership and Management
• Lead the overall people strategy in alignment with the company’s international growth objectives.
• Coach, influence and challenge senior leaders on people, organisation and leadership matters.
• Build a high-performance, accountable and culturally aligned organisation.
• Identify, develop and retain key talent, successors and future leaders.
• Address complex people issues with sound judgement, maturity and commercial awareness.
• Strengthen leadership capability, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness across different markets.
International Business Partnership
• Act as a strategic HR partner to the CEO, senior management team and international business leaders.
• Work confidently with senior stakeholders from Europe, North America, the Middle East, China and other Asian markets.
• Facilitate direct and constructive discussions with senior leaders, challenge decisions where appropriate, and influence outcomes through data, business understanding and professional judgement.
• Bridge differences between Chinese and international management cultures and communication styles.
• Support overseas business expansion, organisational integration and cross-border workforce planning.
Organisation and Talent Development
• Lead organisation design, workforce planning, succession planning and leadership development.
• Assess organisational capabilities and recommend structural or talent changes required for business growth.
• Establish effective talent review and succession management processes.
• Drive change-management initiatives and support leaders through business transformation.
• Develop a consistent company culture while respecting regional and cultural differences.
HR Governance
• Provide strategic oversight across the full HR spectrum, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, learning and development, and HR operations.
• Ensure that automated HR processes and systems continue to support business requirements effectively.
• Handle sensitive employee relations, leadership and organisational matters appropriately.
• Ensure HR policies and employment practices comply with applicable local regulations across relevant markets.
• Use workforce data and people analytics to support management decisions.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organisational Development or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, with substantial experience working in international or cross-border business environments.
• Proven experience in a senior HR leadership, HR Director, Head of HR or senior HR Business Partner position.
• Strong technology-sector background; experience in fintech, artificial intelligence, internet, software, digital platforms or other fast-growing technology businesses is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated strength in people leadership, senior stakeholder management, organisation development and leadership advisory.
• Sound knowledge of the major HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, learning and development, and HR operations.
• Strong understanding of Chinese business culture and experience working with China-based teams or businesses.
• Professional proficiency in English and Mandarin is required, as the role involves regular communication with English-speaking international leaders and Mandarin-speaking stakeholders in China.
• Able to engage senior leaders confidently, manage difficult conversations and constructively challenge decisions.
• Strong business acumen, cultural sensitivity, influencing ability and executive presence.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, technology-driven and evolving international organisation.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
• Strategic and commercially minded, while remaining pragmatic and hands-on when required.
• Confident working with senior leaders from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Able to balance the requirements of China-based stakeholders with international management standards.
• Skilled at handling ambiguity, organisational change and complex people situations.
• Data-driven and comfortable working in an HR environment where routine processes are highly digitalised and automated.
• Resilient, mature, direct and solutions-oriented.
WHAT WE OFFER
• A senior leadership opportunity with direct exposure to executive management and international business leaders.
• The opportunity to shape the people strategy and organisational capability of a growing technology business.
• A multicultural and international working environment.
We are committed to fair and merit-based employment practices. All qualified applicants will be considered based on their skills, experience and suitability for the role.
