Performance & Non-Functional Testing Lead

Join a large-scale technology transformation programme and help shape the performance, resilience and scalability of modern cloud-native platforms.

We're looking for an experienced Performance & Non-Functional Testing Lead to own the end-to-end non-functional testing capability across a complex enterprise environment. This is a senior technical leadership role combining strategy, hands-on expertise and programme-wide ownership.

What you'll do

You'll define and drive the Performance & Non-Functional Testing strategy, ensuring cloud-based services are scalable, resilient and production-ready. Working closely with Architects, Engineering, DevOps, Product and Scrum teams, you'll embed non-functional testing into the delivery lifecycle and champion engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining the Performance & Non-Functional Testing strategy, roadmap and governance.
• Leading testing across load, stress, volume, resilience, failover, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR) and operational readiness scenarios.
• Owning tooling, environments, test planning, reporting and programme-wide quality metrics.
• Analysing performance results, identifying bottlenecks and driving remediation.
• Integrating Performance Testing into CI/CD pipelines and supporting shift-left delivery practices.
• Mentoring Performance Test Engineers and providing technical leadership across the programme.

What you'll bring

You'll have proven experience delivering Performance & Non-Functional Testing across complex enterprise environments, with expertise in:

• Enterprise Performance & Non-Functional Testing strategy and governance.
• Cloud-native testing, ideally within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner or NeoLoad.
• Performance analysis, profiling, monitoring and optimisation.
• Containerised and serverless architectures, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and observability.
• Strong scripting or programming skills (Python, Java, Scala or Cypher).
• Database and messaging performance, including Neo4j/GDBMS, Pub/Sub and MQ.
• API, batch/ETL and integration testing.
• Agile delivery, stakeholder management and technical leadership.

Nice to have

Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, IAM platforms, AppDynamics, Datadog, GCP Monitoring, DevSecOps, SaaS testing, and establishing enterprise-wide Performance Testing standards and governance.
