Summary

On-site HSE Engineer enforces safety and environmental rules for high-voltage power projects, inspecting transmission lines, substations, and HVDC works in Khavda or Surat.

Position Overview:

AECOM is looking for the position of HSE Engineer, who will monitor and enforce implementation of the approved HSE plan across transmission line, substation and HVDC works and promote a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review contractor HSE plans, risk assessments, JSA/JHA, method statements and emergency-response procedures.
  • Monitor implementation of permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and electrical-safety systems.
  • Inspect work-at-height activities, tower erection, stringing, lifting, excavation, scaffolding and confined-space work.
  • Verify competency, certification and authorization of operators, riggers, electricians, equipment operators and specialist personnel.
  • Conduct daily inspections, planned audits, toolbox-talk reviews and safety observations.
  • Monitor lifting plans, crane operations, equipment certification and exclusion-zone arrangements.
  • Review traffic management, road safety, material handling and site-access controls.
  • Monitor environmental controls including waste management, spill prevention, dust, noise and vegetation management.
  • Stop or recommend suspension of unsafe work presenting imminent risk.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions and environmental events.
  • Review root-cause analysis and verify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain HSE statistics, leading and lagging indicators and regulatory records.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and verify availability of rescue, firefighting and first-aid arrangements.
  • Promote behavioral safety, workforce engagement and lessons learned.
  • Support energization and commissioning safety-readiness reviews.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering with recognized industrial-safety qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of HSE experience in construction or power-infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in EHV transmission line and substation works.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of work-at-height, lifting, excavation, electrical-safety and permit-to-work requirements.

The position will be site-based at Khavda or Surat and may require travel between project locations, contractor offices, manufacturing facilities and client offices.

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary AECOM Energy team supporting the safe and successful delivery of major HVDC and transmission infrastructure projects.
