Description

Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and rigorous HSE / Environmental Lead to manage Health, Safety, and Environmental programs on our project sites. In this role, you will monitor day-to-day operations to ensure that all work aligns with environmental impact regulations, engineering specs for safety structures, and blueprints for environmental mitigation. You will act as the primary onsite authority, coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and laborers to establish a culture of total safety compliance, eliminate workplace hazards, and protect the surrounding ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Supervision & Regulatory Compliance
    • Monitor day-to-day operations on the job site to ensure work practices align with safety engineering specifications, corporate HSE policies, and environmental blueprints.
    • Conduct daily site audits and inspections to identify physical hazards, unsafe acts, and potential environmental breaches (e.g., erosion control failures, hazardous material leaks).
    • Review site plans and engineering specifications to verify that safety systems (e.g., scaffolding, trench shoring, fall protection) are built and maintained correctly.
    • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, analyze root causes, and submit comprehensive reports to management and regulatory authorities.
    • Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including waste management, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), noise control, and dust mitigation.
  • Contractor & Subcontractor Coordination
    • Direct and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and specialized trade specialists to ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and local environmental laws.
    • Conduct mandatory HSE orientations, pre-mobilization safety reviews, and daily toolbox talks for all incoming trade specialists and laborers.
    • Evaluate contractor-submitted Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Method Statements, and Environmental Management Plans before authorizing work to begin.
    • Issue stop-work orders and corrective action notices to contractors failing to meet safety or environmental standards, and verify remediation before work resumes.
    • Track and report contractor HSE metrics (e.g., Total Recordable Incident Rate, waste diversion percentages) to evaluate trade performance and accountability.
