HSE Manager - Major Renewable Project - Victoria

Lead Safety on One of Victoria's Next Major BESS Projects

Join UGL at the forefront of Australia's energy transition. Having delivered 13 solar farms and 14 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the country, we're continuing to grow our renewable energy portfolio and creating long-term career opportunities for our people.

We're looking for an experienced HSE Manager to take ownership of safety on a major utility-scale BESS project in Victoria. You'll be a key member of the leadership team, working alongside supervisors, contractors and project leaders to build a strong safety culture and support the successful delivery of one of Victoria's next major renewable energy projects.

You'll join a project team that values visible leadership, practical safety and getting out in the field. Backed by UGL's strong pipeline of renewable energy projects, this role also offers genuine long-term career opportunities beyond your first assignment.

Why this role

  • Lead safety on one of Victoria's next major BESS projects.
  • Join a project team that genuinely values safety and supports its leaders.
  • Be trusted to influence culture, coach leaders and make a real impact on site.
  • Build your career with a Tier 1 contractor delivering renewable energy projects across Australia.
  • Access future opportunities across UGL's growing portfolio of battery, wind and solar projects.

About the role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll lead all aspects of safety across the project and be a key voice within the leadership team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who prefers being in the field, building relationships and supporting crews rather than sitting behind a desk. You'll work closely with supervisors, contractors and the HSE team to drive positive safety outcomes, manage risk and help ensure everyone goes home safely each day.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead safety across the project and provide support and direction to the HSE team.

  • Build strong relationships with supervisors, contractors and the workforce to drive a positive safety culture.

  • Coach and influence leaders to effectively manage risk and safety performance.

  • Support investigations, learnings and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.

  • Ensure project activities are carried out in line with legislative, client and UGL safety requirements.

What we offer

  • Access our OneRewards Discount Program.
  • Discounted Medibank health insurance.
  • Participate in our Wellness Program with AIA Vitality.
  • Benefit from 16 weeks of paid primary parental leave.
  • Complimentary salary continuance insurance.
  • Shape your career with an Individual Development Plan.

About you

  • Experience in a similar HSE Manager role leading HSE on solar, wind or BESS construction projects.

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • A practical, visible leadership style.

  • Relevant health and safety qualifications.
