HSSE Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Twigg’s Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) systems and standards. The role will provide advice, coaching and support to employees and contractors, helping to identify and mitigate workplace hazards and promote a strong HSE culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and support field observations, safety interactions, workplace inspections and internal HSE audits.
• Support incident investigations and management of hazards, risks and corrective actions.
• Maintain HSE systems, databases, registers and related documentation.
• Support HSE reporting, training, inductions and workforce consultation.
• Monitor compliance with HSE legislation, company standards, procedures and requirements.
• Support the implementation of HSE Management Plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage incident, hazard, risk and non-conformance registers.
• Support environmental monitoring, waste management and hazardous spill response.
• Promote effective use and understanding of HSE systems, tools and improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with employees, contractors and operational teams to strengthen HSE performance.

Key Requirements

• Experience in Health, Safety & Environment, preferably within mining, construction or heavy industry.
• Experience interpreting and implementing HSE legislation and requirements.
• Sound knowledge of HSE management systems, risk management and data management.
• Relevant HSE qualifications and/or certifications, including areas such as ISO 45001/14001, incident investigation, training or auditing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence and work effectively with others.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Portuguese.
