The Human Resources Executive (Island Based) is responsible for supporting the daily Human Resources operations of the resort by providing administrative, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and HR systems support. This position plays a key role in ensuring HR processes are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and Marriott brand standards.
The HR Executive works closely with department leaders, associates, and the HR team to support talent acquisition, employee engagement, personnel administration, payroll processes, learning and development initiatives, and overall associate experience. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, professionalism, and the ability to operate effectively in a remote island resort environment.
ISLAND-BASED ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- This is an island-based position requiring residence on the resort island during scheduled work periods.
- Associates will be required to work rostered shifts and flexible schedules based on operational requirements.
- Must be adaptable to working in a remote resort environment and supporting a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with on-island and cluster teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional associate experiences in a hospitality environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Human Resources Operations & Administration
- Support the daily operations of the Human Resources department and ensure efficient delivery of HR services.
- Create, maintain, and update employee personnel files and HR records.
- Ensure all employee documents are accurately maintained and secured in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain HR filing systems, databases, reports, and documentation.
- Process and monitor employee transfers, status changes, and employment-related documentation.
- Support the preparation of HR correspondence, letters, contracts, and documentation as required.
- Generate HR reports and provide information and data to management when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and HR records at all times.
II. Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding
- Support all recruitment and hiring activities for the property.
- Coordinate interviews, candidate assessments, and recruitment logistics.
- Monitor applicant flow and recruitment tracking systems.
- Conduct employment verification activities, including reference checks, background checks, and other pre-employment requirements.
- Coordinate drug screening processes and maintain associated records.
- Support managers and supervisors throughout the recruitment and selection process.
- Ensure recruitment activities comply with Marriott policies and employment legislation.
- Coordinate onboarding activities and orientation programs for new associates.
- Assist new associates with required documentation and employment processes.
III. Associate Relations & Employee Support
- Serve as a point of contact for associate HR-related queries and support requests.
- Assist associates with internal transfer requests and HR procedures.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and associate recognition programs.
- Escalate employee relations matters to Human Resources leadership when required.
- Maintain positive relationships with associates across all departments.
- Assist in communicating company programs, policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Promote a positive work environment that supports associate wellbeing and engagement.
- Support conflict resolution and associate concerns in a professional and confidential manner.
IV. Learning, Training & Development
- Coordinate orientation programs for new associates.
- Support the facilitation of HR-related training programs and workshops.
- Train new associates on HR processes, policies, systems, and procedures.
- Assist with the administration and tracking of training records and compliance requirements.
- Support learning and development initiatives across the property.
- Coordinate training schedules and communications with departmental leaders.
- Assist in the promotion of career development and growth opportunities for associates.
V. Payroll & Employee Records Support
- Assist with payroll administration and employee record maintenance.
- Ensure payroll-related documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Support the maintenance of attendance, leave, and employment records.
- Verify employee information and documentation required for payroll processing.
- Maintain accurate records of employee movements, promotions, transfers, and employment changes.
- Assist in resolving payroll-related queries in collaboration with relevant departments.
VI. Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with department leaders to support staffing and operational requirements.
- Build strong working relationships across all departments within the resort.
- Communicate HR policies, updates, and important information effectively.
- Provide administrative support to HR leadership and operational teams as required.
- Participate in meetings, recruitment activities, employee events, and HR projects.
- Support cross-functional initiatives that enhance associate engagement and operational excellence.
VII. Compliance, Policies & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and Marriott standards.
- Maintain accurate employment records and documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.
- Support audits and compliance reviews relating to Human Resources documentation and processes.
- Monitor hiring processes to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Promote confidentiality and professional handling of sensitive employee information.
- Ensure HR processes are administered consistently and fairly.
- Support implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
VIII. Service Excellence & Professional Standards
- Provide professional and responsive HR support to associates and leaders.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and manage correspondence professionally.
- Prepare and review HR documents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Maintain a positive and service-oriented approach when assisting associates and stakeholders.
- Support a culture aligned with Marriott's core values and service standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources, Administration, Recruitment, Payroll, or related work experience.
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, hospitality, or service-based environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, personnel administration, and employment documentation processes.
- Understanding of HR practices, employment legislation, and confidentiality requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
