Human Resources Generalist

Job Overview:

The HR Generalist supports the execution of core HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, administration, employee relations support, total rewards administration, employee mobility coordination, reporting, and offboarding activities. This role ensures data accuracy, documentation compliance, and timely system updates across HR platforms while responding to employee and manager inquiries. The HR Generalist partners closely with HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence (COE) to support HR initiatives, escalate complex issues as appropriate, and maintain operational discipline, process consistency, and data integrity across HR systems.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Performance Management & Talent Reviews
• Participate in calibration sessions of talent reviews
• Support the performance management process by providing managers with timelines and reminders to ensure completion
• Provide MyHR support, answer process and system queries, and direct employees to appropriate groups, such as McDermott’s Global People Services team (GPS) when required
• Issue standard reports for managers or leadership teams from dashboards and Talent & Organizational Development (T&OD) COE
Inclusion & Belonging
• Issue standard reports for managers or leadership teams from dashboards and the Inclusion & Belonging COE
Talent Acquisition
• Assist in the facilitation of recruiting and offer activities, including workforce requisitions, job offers, and related paperwork
• Manage onboarding processes, including new hire orientation, journey monitoring, and buddy assignment
Employee Relations
• Issue standard letters and communications related to employee policies and training
• Advise managers and employees on HR policies
• Mediate and resolve employee relations issues and escalate complex cases to HR Business Partners
• Track employee relations issues and trends and escalate emerging issues
Total Rewards
• Communicate employee benefit enrollment processes
• Assist employees with compensation or benefit changes, including qualifying life events
• Provide employees with clarification regarding salary calculations or benefits
• Create and manage SNOW tickets
• Support annual initiatives by providing general manager guidance and sending reminders
Employee Mobility
• Assist employees with relocation and mobility inquiries
• Coordinate with Mobility COE team on visas, travel, and relocation
• Coordinate mobility related forms, documentation, and communications as required
Talent Analytics
• Compile and generate reports of talent related metrics, including turnover, attendance, and training data
Training & Career Development
• Provide training to employees on HR self service tools
• Monitor and follow up on mandatory training to ensure timely completion
• Support employees in creating development plans and Talent Profiles and track progress
• Use reports and dashboards to prepare status updates for the business
Recognition
• Educate managers on ways to recognize employees and process applicable recognition requests
Strategic Workforce Planning & National Content
• Support National Content requirements where applicable (Project HR)
• Ensure job data accuracy and gather requested data to support Strategic Workforce Planning
Other Responsibilities
• Partner with Centers of Excellence on global initiatives
• Offboard employees, including exit interviews, documentation, and system updates
• Generate monthly and ad hoc reports by compiling, transforming, and visualizing data
• Recommend process improvements and innovations to drive efficiencies
• Comply with systems, processes, and data governance policies and procedures
• Ensure documentation compliance and timely system updates to support accurate reporting
• Submit and close SNOW tickets to maintain data integrity in HR systems
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience
• 3+ years of experience in an HR generalist or similar operational HR role
• Working knowledge of core HR principles, policies, and employee lifecycle processes
• Experience using HR information systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or comparable platforms)
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees and managers, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to build effective working relationships across functions and levels of the organization
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
