Riverside Transport Inc Human Resources Generalist
The ideal candidate will be responsible for benefits assistance, payroll backup, leave of absences, company policy, recruitment efforts, new hire orientation / onboarding, employee terminations, and procedure adherence. In addition, you will build strong relationships with our company's managers in order to help them with their HR needs.
Responsibilities:
- Posting and updating job descriptions on HR shared drive and recruiting platforms.
- Organizing and attending career fairs. This will include military, college, and workforce career fairs.
- Administering the leave of absence process (FMLA, ADA, and personal leaves).
- Completing employment forms, which will include unemployment and garnishment paperwork.
- Ensuring employees are set up with proper trainings.
- Conducting follow up interviews with new hires after 30/90 days of employment.
- Ability to speak with new hires and current employees on company benefits.
- Communicating to prospective employees offers of employment and completing the onboarding process. The onboarding process will include: background check, completing new hire information in HRIS, verifying I-9 paperwork onsite, updating personnel files on HR shared drive, etc.
- Completing reference checks on candidates as needed.
- Managing employee changes in the HR system.
- Responsible for responding to general human resources questions throughout the day.
- Updating the FLSA changes within the organization. Ensuring employees are properly classified and being paid properly. Staying up to date on changes to the regulations.
- Ensuring I-9s are properly completed and filed. Conducting an internal I-9 audit to ensure we are in compliance with regulations.
Assist HR Manager in day to day functions which include but not limited to the following:
- Knowledgeable of employment law specifically FMLA and ADA. Ability to accurately process FMLA paperwork in a timely manner. Knowledge and experience of tracking leave.
- Effectively communicate benefit options to new hires
- Familiarity with different HRIS and different payroll systems.
- Employee relations - ability to effectively communicate to employee’s performance issues that arise.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
