Position Summary
Tiny Hearts of America is seeking a dedicated and organized Volunteer Human Resources Generalist to support the organization's volunteer and workforce operations. This individual will play a key role in helping recruit, onboard, engage, and retain volunteers while assisting with HR processes that support our growing organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional, recent graduate, or experienced volunteer looking to give back while gaining nonprofit leadership experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and screening.
- Coordinate volunteer onboarding and orientation.
- Maintain confidential volunteer and personnel records.
- Help develop and update HR policies, procedures, and volunteer handbooks.
- Support volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives.
- Coordinate training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist department directors with staffing and volunteer needs.
- Track volunteer hours and participation.
- Support performance feedback and conflict resolution when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable employment best practices.
- Participate in leadership meetings as needed.
- Perform other HR-related duties that support the organization's mission.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Knowledge of HR principles and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and cloud-based collaboration tools.
- Previous nonprofit or volunteer experience is a plus but not required.
- SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus but not required.
