POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Intern will be an integral member of the Toronto Polytainers Human Resources team, providing administrative and coordination support across recruitment, onboarding, employee documentation, health and safety administration, employee engagement, and other HR programs.
The role will provide hands-on exposure to various areas of Human Resources, including candidate screening and recruitment coordination, new hire onboarding, employee records management, HRBP support, employee communications and events, career fairs, and recruitment marketing activities.
The HR Intern will also support the maintenance and conversion of employee records to the electronic filing system, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with established filing protocols.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with candidate screening and de-selection using the Recruitment module in Dayforce.
Coordinate interviews, recruitment follow-ups, and other hiring activities in collaboration with HR Business Partners and other HR team members.
Conduct reference checks and assist with verification of candidate and resume information.
Support hiring administration, including the preparation and organization of new hire documentation.
Support career fairs, recruitment events, and recruitment marketing activities.
Assist with recruitment-related communications and candidate coordination.
Support new hire onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring required documentation and onboarding materials are complete and properly organized.
Scan, organize, and maintain new hire and employee documentation in accordance with established filing protocols.
Support the conversion of hard-copy employee files to the electronic filing system.
Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of employee records.
Ensure established naming conventions, document descriptions, and electronic filing protocols are consistently followed.
Provide administrative and coordination support to HR Business Partners and other members of the HR team.
Respond to general HR-related inquiries and assist employees where appropriate, escalating questions to the appropriate HR team member when necessary.
Support HR projects, programs, reporting, and other administrative activities as required.
Provide occasional reception coverage, including answering phones and receiving visitors, as needed.
Support Health & Safety administration and records management.
Assist the Senior Health and Safety Specialist with the administration, organization, and maintenance of WSIB documentation, forms, and related records.
Maintain accurate and confidential Health & Safety documentation in accordance with established procedures.
Support employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback collection, and team-building activities.
Assist with the coordination, setup, execution, and closing of employee communication meetings and shop-floor events.
Support Social Committee events and other employee activities.
Assist with internal HR communications and employee experience initiatives.
Support employee engagement and employee experience activities as required.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate Human Resources program or a related field.
Experience
Previous Human Resources, administrative, or recruitment experience is considered an asset.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
