The Human Resources Intern is responsible for developing a broad understanding of all Human Resources functions including general Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Payroll & Benefits, and Learning & Development. This position will support current and potential Nicolet Bank employees.
As a Human Resources Intern, you will:
Human Resources:
  • Ensure the efficient and successful on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, including launching workflows to ensure communication between departments.
  • Act as first point of contact for managers and employees to resolve disciplinary and other performance related issues.
  • Perform at a highly professional level using discretion and effective communication skills as it pertains to employee and manager situations.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Nicolet Bank directors, managers, and staff.
Talent Acquisition:
  • Work with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and to ensure complete understanding of the requirements and expectations of the position to be filled.
  • Review and update job descriptions for posting, as may be necessary.
  • Source and recruit candidates effectively using a variety of outlets (e.g., social media, job boards, job fairs, on-campus interviews, internal and external referral networks).
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment process including resume screening, candidate phone screens/virtual interviews, make recommendations to hiring managers, coordinate on-site interviews with hiring manager, prepare and send offer letters.
  • Maintain the applicant tracking system.
Benefits & Payroll:
  • Support off-boarding of employees, including termination workflows, termination letters, and associated paperwork.
  • Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Process assigned payroll-related HRIS transactions, including new hires, status changes, terminations, and other payroll-impacting changes.
Learning & Development:
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of employee learning programs, including scheduling, communications, training materials, and participant tracking.
  • Support maintenance of learning records and resources within the Learning Management System (LMS), including course updates, learner assignments, and data accuracy reviews.
  • Compile and analyze training participation, completion, and feedback data; assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations for HR and business leaders.
General:
  • Uphold Nicolet’s philosophy and policies by maintaining appropriate controls to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby fulfilling legal responsibilities and enhancing the quality of services provided by Nicolet.

Qualifications:
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Paycor preferred.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively promote Nicolet as an employer of choice.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking positions.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful.
