Profile:

The Human Resources Manager supports Loyola Blakefield's Catholic, Jesuit mission by providing responsive, professional, and employee-centered human resources services that contribute to a positive and mission-focused workplace. Reporting to the Vice President, the Human Resources Manager administers the School's day-to-day human resources operations while ensuring compliance with employment laws, School policies, and established human resources practices.

The role is responsible for a broad range of human resources functions, including employment policies and compliance, employee relations, leave and benefits administration, recruitment and onboarding, hiring and separation processes, and personnel records management. The position also assists with the administration of the School's insurance programs and works collaboratively with school leadership to support faculty and staff throughout the employment lifecycle, ensuring a professional, welcoming, and mission-centered experience for every employee.

Human Resources Administration & Compliance

  • Administer the School's day-to-day human resources operations, ensuring consistent application of employment policies, procedures, and best practices in support of Loyola Blakefield's Catholic, Jesuit mission.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including employment documentation, recordkeeping, required reporting, and personnel files.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Employee Handbook, human resources policies, organizational charts, and related employment documentation.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to faculty, staff, and supervisors by providing timely guidance on human resources policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
  • Assist the Vice President in developing and implementing improvements to human resources policies, procedures, and operational practices.

Human Resources Information Systems, Payroll & Benefits

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the School's Human Resources Information System (HRIS), leveraging Paycom and related enterprise software to maintain employee records, process personnel transactions, support reporting, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the Business Office to support the semi-monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate employee data, payroll changes, and benefit deductions while serving as a resource for payroll-related questions.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health, retirement, wellness, and ancillary benefits, while serving as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
  • Lead the annual employee benefits open enrollment process, including employee communications, system updates, and coordination with benefits providers.
  • Administer employee leave programs, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance and other applicable leave policies, ensuring accurate documentation, communication, and payroll coordination.
  • Coordinate annual compensation-related processes, including employment contracts, salary notifications, stipend letters, and other personnel documentation.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Employee Relations

  • Partner with school leaders throughout the recruitment and hiring process, coordinating job postings, candidate communications, onboarding activities, and employment documentation.
  • Facilitate a welcoming and organized onboarding experience for new faculty and staff, ensuring completion of all required employment, payroll, and benefits documentation.
  • Support employee relations by responding to questions, addressing concerns, and partnering with supervisors and the Vice President to resolve employment matters in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate employee separation processes, including exit documentation, benefits transitions, and exit interviews, as appropriate.

Insurance Administration & Operational Support

  • Assist with the administration of the School's insurance programs.
  • Support the completion of annual surveys, compliance reports, and other required institutional reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of employment actions, personnel transactions, performance documentation, and benefit plan materials.
  • Support special projects and other human resources initiatives as assigned by the Vice President.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Professional human resources certification preferred, including SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR®), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®), or comparable HR, payroll, or benefits administration certification.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible human resources experience, preferably in an independent school, nonprofit, higher education, or similarly mission-driven organization.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, human resources best practices, employee benefits administration, payroll processes, and leave management.
  • Demonstrated experience administering Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and enterprise human capital management platforms, preferably Paycom or comparable systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding service to faculty and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and effectively utilize new technology platforms.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Loyola Blakefield and an appreciation for the Catholic, Jesuit educational tradition.
