Human Resources Manager
Pittsburgh Botanic Garden inspires people to value plants, garden design, and the natural world by cultivating plant collections of the Allegheny Plateau and temperate regions, creating display gardens, conducting educational programs, and conserving the environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Human Resource Manager facilitates relationships between employees and the organization including all associated duties centered around a positive work environment. Leads the inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (I.D.E.A.) initiatives for the Garden. The Human Resource Manager reports to the Executive Director.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Manage the recruitment of new staff including the posting of open positions.
- Receive applicant information, perform initial review and screening before the interview process is conducted by the hiring manager of the open position.
- Participate in the onboarding of new employees: complete and verify I-9 documentation and maintain I-9 files. Complete E-Verify training and use E-Verify to complete I-9 final validation.
- Lead internal communication efforts to ensure clear and timely organizational messaging using Microsoft tools.
- Submit online clearance requests.
- Prepare new employee files and maintain documents within files.
- Perform post-interview correspondence with applicants.
- Administer health & welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Process required documents through insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests including questions regarding benefits, payroll, and employment concerns.
- Serves as first point of contact in conflict resolution between employees, supervisors, etc.
- Assist with processing of termination paperwork including COBRA benefit information.
- Facilitates exit interviews.
- File worker’s compensation update reports with the insurance company.
- File yearly OSHA reports
- Leads the development of the Gardens I.D.E.A. initiatives.
- Research, recommend, and execute creative strategies to foster the organization’s diversity goals.
- Assist with Garden special events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
